Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

We use FE NXT as our accounting product for the GL, budgets, AP processing and through journal entries, adding payroll, bank activity and accounts receivable. We manage multiple organizations withing FE through GL numbers so reporting can be manageable.

Pros

  • Flexibility in setting up account numbers
  • Creating custom reporting

Cons

  • With the transition from database to web based, the JE upload is an ongoing issue.
  • Upgrades are not always vetted through clients who use the functionality, therefore, not working properly in the field.
  • Reporting is very helpful for efficiency at month and quarter end.
We track donor information in another program.

Yes

Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is a complex suite of products. For a larger and/or complex organization, it works very well. However, that comes with a cost. For a small organization, it may be too much product and too expensive. A good vetting of organizational needs and budget should occur before committing to an program like FE NXT.

Please note that what I use if a very small portion of what we have access to. My usage is journal entries for payroll and bank activity, and bank reconciliation. Others use the program more extensively and may have other opinions.
