Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

In my role as an accountant, I use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT to upload deposits, apply payments, run general ledger reports, research transactions, create new projects, upload documentation to invoices and agreements, create vendors, and research account activity. The benefit of utilizing this system is that when researching any sort of transaction, invoice, ledger, project or account there are search bars and filters that help narrow the scope of the information so the specific information can be found easily. Rather than sorting through manually thousands of files, or narrowing a date range and searching through multiple transactions, you can type in the name or deposit/payment ID into the search bar and the matching material will pull.
  • Uploading and inputting information is easy due to a clear format and outline.
  • Researching and finding past information is quick and easy to navigate due to searching and filtering options as well as the ability to name the files for quick searches.
  • Pulling project titles and accounts - you can have a large amount of projects and accounts and are able to know them through the system without having to memorize each individual title.
  • Being able to export a general ledger for an account to excel while still being formatted correctly.
  • Having the ability to filter in what transactions are pulled in the general ledger. You are able to easily look at all the activity or only activity in a certain time frame or other specific filters.
  • There is always access to help from Blackbaud services for any sort of difficulty.
  • Learning and the ability to attend Blackbaud classes are readily and easily available so you can increase your knowledge and ability to serve well in your organizations' role.
  • I would find it helpful to be able to search by payment amount.
  • When pulling a general ledger being able to see the names of the unposted activity.
  • When looking at the general ledger having the payment id or the deposit id also available so you can easily navigate to the deposit or payment directly.
  • The efficiency of the workflow that Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT offers is incredible. I am able to easily and efficiently add the information necessary with little to no complications.
  • The data is readily accessible and easy to interpret, which allows you to find what you are looking for, know what needs to be changed and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Another positive impact is the ability that Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT offers to anyone to learn and understand the system while also providing opportunities for growth and advancement.
We are able to keep all the projects organized and put in all the correct data which allows for anyone with access to find the project and know the criteria and allocations per donor wishes. The ability to upload, attach, and set all the information that is found in the agreement into the system for 1. easy searching, 2. appropriate and accurate information communication and 3. allows for the necessary information to be known so that all efforts and procedures may be in accordance with donor wishes.
The accessibility and ease of visibility of the spending from account to account is truly remarkable. The ability to pull the general ledger with many filter options has allowed for accurate analysis when reviewing financial statements. The readability of the statements is incredible - the breakdown of the information and the ability to export to excel greatly enhances the workflow. The only additional piece of information that would be beneficial is to have the payment and deposit ID visible, tying the activity in the reports to the exact placement in the system which would help with corrections or payment support. The ability to see the financial performance from department to department also has allowed for accurate cost comparisons for budget purposes.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, compared to CYMA, offers both the database view as well as the desktop view making it incredibly user-friendly and offers easy access to and visibility of the financial statements. You are able to clearly and easily filter the reports and work in either database view or web view and can switch between the two effectively and easily. Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT takes the confusion out of the financial system.

I would absolutely recommend this system to anyone looking for a financial system. The accessibility, the ease of use, and the depth of the system is widely useful for any purpose. Being able to accurately record deposits and payments as well as the ease in returning to any deposit or payment later is incredibly helpful when auditing. To be able to go back into a payment find where it was applied in Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and then also have the ability to upload the bank statement for secure documentation is certainly a helpful feature to any organization. I would recommend it because the system is incredibly user-friendly and offers the ability to grow your knowledge of financial management through courses. If the organization did not have a large profit, then I would recommend building the business so that the many applications and benefits that Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT has to offer would then be more applicable to the business. Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT would still be incredibly beneficial to a small business, but the range of opportunities and benefits that it offers is very well suited for larger organizations.
