Overall Satisfaction with BlueJeans

Our IT operations department is split between two countries, people often work from home or go on business trips, we have several data centres across the globe with our engineers in them. Before BlueJeans organising something between more than two parties was a nightmare, with BlueJeans we can instantly invite other people to our meetings even if they never used BlueJeans before. When you are at the meeting between Moscow and London (BlueJeans works with our conference calls solution) discussing new hardware installation and need to know something about the cage in the data centre you can just send a link to the on-site engineer and both sides will see him on the screen in a couple of minutes. You will share your screen with him showing the installation plan you came up with and he will show you how the cage actually looks. And then you can add your colleague who is on holidays in Peru and doesn't even have his laptop with him (or even the Internet) because they can simply dial a number and be in your meeting.
  • Screen sharing does everything you can think of. You can share the whole screen of the particular app. No matter if you close the app or move the focus from the window the other side will not see anything you don't want them to see.
  • You can draw simple diagrams and every participant will see them. It's far from MS Visio but does the job.
  • I'm not sure if there is an upper limit of the number of participants, the maximum we did was five, and the quality of video and sound wasn't affected.
  • Multiple ways to connect to the meeting and every participant can do it's own: desktop app, phone app, even a simple phone call.
  • Drawing tool could be improved, although you can always simply share your screen.
  • Hardware installations now much easier because we can include on-site engineers in our meetings
  • People who work from home or on a sick day can still attend important meetings
  • One person doesn't need to book a meeting room, they can simply use their laptop and it makes no difference for the other side of the meeting
Joining a meeting couldn't be easier. We have a small page in out internal documentation portal with just three lines:

  • From a laptop follow this link
  • From a phone call this number
  • From a conference room call this number and punch in this code

It couldn't be easier.
Perfect use case for BlueJeans is when you have more than two parties participating in your meeting, BlueJeans is especially good when some of them don't have access to a computer. Spontaneous meetings when one person with a laptop wants to talk with many people in a meeting room with conference call hardware are another example.

If you only have two parties and the meeting is planned in advance, then BlueJeans would be overkill.
