Overall Satisfaction with Bonterra Apricot
I use Apricot for logging case notes and tracking data for families I work with in shelter. We are able to keep all data for our families in one place that is accesible to all case managers in the organization so staff can stay up to date on the work being done and challenges families may be experiencing.
Pros
- User friendly
- Clean and organized layout
- Functional
Cons
- Allow users to be away from Apricot without timing out
- Once something is saved, don't show the window that says changes you made may not be saved.
- Because Apricot is easy to navigate case managers can run through data input quickly and prioritize working in person with the families they serve.
- We are able to summarize monthly assessments completed on Apricot to show the growth of families in shelter, such as tracking growth in their income from their first day in shelter to their last.
- Our data team is able to make customizations to the database quickly so we can track additional points when there is a new data point we want to analyze.
The structure of Apricot as a database makes it possible for case managers to efficiently track data and information regarding the families we work with. This data is then analyzed by out research and evaluation team and then used to show the efficiency of our organization's mentoring model so that other non-profits can adapt our strategize for coaching families to self sufficiency. Apricot plays a direct role in allowing us to showcase what we are doing correctly in our work, and also allows us to analyze the data to show areas for improvement.
Similar to my response to the previous question, we are able to analyze the data we store on Apricot and show that to funding sources and grant proposals to legitimize the work we are doing and show that our approach is data-driven and effective. This data is essential in providing tangible evidence that mobility mentoring has an impact on the families we work with.
We also use a state database called ETO that tracks case notes for our families, but doesn't give us the ability to analyze things like gross annual income growth for our families during their time in the program, # of housing applications completed, etc. It is solely used to track case notes regarding case management meeting content. Apricot allows us to generate statistics we can use to source funding and prove our efficiency as an organization as we continue to market our coaching model. ETO does not have this benefit.
