Overall Satisfaction with Brightmine

I use it daily to help answer client questions, conduct research, and stay current on employment laws.

Pros

  • Email updates.
  • Updating pages when new laws are enacted or when amendments are made.
  • Clear presentation, consistent organization of 'articles'

Cons

  • Case law research - examples of the law being interpreted in case law.
  • More practical webcasts.
  • Working in paid leave laws (like IL PLAWA) in with paid sick leave laws into one chart.
  • Daily labor report (miss that from having Bloomberg Law at a previous job).
  • Saved time on research.
  • Reducing time spent on crafting responses.
  • Not sure on cost etc as not included in those discussions.
It really is my go-to for answering any and all questions. I find it easy to navigate and locate the information I need in a timely fashion. I use it all the time.
I don't use it for my company's compliance; this is for the company's clients who contact me for compliance advice.
I didn't have a say in what was offered. I prefer Bloomberg for some things (if I still had access) and Brightmine for others. I have access to Practical Law, but I don't use it. I much prefer Brightmine.

In-house counsel HR professional compliance teams are less appropriate for some less savvy HR professionals (maybe too dense) and less appropriate for law firms since you cannot do case law research.
