The HR team utilise the guidance and legal timetables, as well as workflows. I like the email updates which give me regular reminders of news trends and updates. The platform that was Cendex is used for our job evaluation and pay benchmarking and the other surveys and whitepapers give us valuable insights into key statistics and trends.
  • Keeping updated with legislation and HR trends and news
  • Real time pay data
  • Templates and guides
Cons
  • I'd like the job functions to be more up to date with technologic trends and movement - i.e AI roles, and DevOps
  • I'd like to see more Technology data in Cendex to benchmark my company against
  • I'd love to see a chatbot
I've used Brightmine for many years, both in businesses and as a consultant, it provides up to date HR insights, templates, tools, it's just a great go to platform instead of searching the web or spending money on an employment lawyer. The job evaluation and pay benchmarking tool suits our business as an SME as its not too complex and is a simple way of job matching roles and ensuring we are competitive in the market. The Gapsquare gender pay tool is the only one I struggle with, I would prefer more guidance and maybe pop up explanations/chat bot to help me navigate the data.

I use Brightmine as my first port of call for HR/People issues, templates, and policy guidance. They have a breadth of information, advice, and knowledge across their hub, so it is a great one-stop shop tool for HR professionals or people managers/business owners. I use the legal service too to get expert employment law advice if i am ever unsure of our legal position or best practice, i tend to get a response with 2 hours so it is a really quick and handy service - or you can always call them if you need an immediate answer.
  • Expert employment law advice.
  • Template letters and policies
  • Quick service.
Cons
  • More definitive responses to legal questions.
  • Have more templates!
It has been pivotal in a few ER cases, where we have come straight to Brightmine for a steer on policies or procedures, which has then included accessing their legal service for a more pinpointed result. However, their legal responses have been slightly wishy-washy in the past, and we have had to consult directly with costly solicitors.

Brightmine has information you can trust!

It helps ensure policy compliance with the ever-changing rules and regulations. We have to ensure that the policies we offer to clients meet the local laws, down to the city and county regs. Being able to see a side-by-side comparison of the differences between the various cities/states really helps us customize the products that we offer clients.
  • State comparisons.
  • Upcoming compliance deadlines.
  • Pending regulatory changes.
Cons
  • More charts would be helpful.
  • More emphasis on court cases pending.
  • Regs to watch where courts could deem them as illegal.
I think anyone in the HR field could benefit from Brightmine's offerings. We have clients with offices in multiple states, and it helps us ensure their one policy manual is all-inclusive and meets all the regulations.

Assisting with complex employee relations cases and case law. Using templates to write to employees. Keeping up to date with new and upcoming legislation. Double checking my understanding of employment law and best practice. Checking policies to ensure mine are complete and cover everything. Useful also to train colleagues who are new to HR and employment law.
  • Template letters
  • Case Law
  • Policies
Cons
  • Speed at which site is updated
  • Ensure template letters are in line with Acas guidelines
I think it is quite expensive for smaller businesses

I acquired the compensation database for my client [...], a charity, to ensure we had an accurate picture of the pay landscape for our roles. It has an excellent level of data density for charities in the UK, and I found the search function easy to use once I built a read-across between the Brightmine database and the grading system we use.
  • Charity Pay Data.
  • Ease of enquiry.
  • Ease of data export.
Cons
  • More data in Scotland please!
  • It would be good to be able to build a read across from job evaluation outcomes to the Brightmine job levels
  • The ability to build a peer group would be a useful addition
Great for Charity pay data in the UK, particularly organisations with more than one hundred employees (but probably below five thousand employees). This could be for one-off job benchmarking, or (as we used it) for larger scale projects - for example, building a new pay system for a UK organisation.
