Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Aironet and Catalyst 2800 Series Access Points

We have over 3000 Cisco Access Points on campus supporting all students, staff, and faculty.
  • Manage numerous clients
  • Provide high throughput
  • Robust and reliable
  • Cost
  • Form factor
  • Reporting bad radios
  • Mostly satisfied customers
  • Good uptime and reliable
  • High-end model access points tend to be expensive
We are new to Aruba but they seem to perform as well as Aironet Access Points at a lower price point. All of our switches are Cisco so using Aironet Access Points allows us to use a Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) neighbor which is convenient.
Aeronet Access Points are great for large enterprise deployments but perhaps less so for environments small enough to not require a WLC (wireless LAN controller).
