Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches

  • Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
  • Catalyst 3850 Series
  • Catalyst 9200 Series
We use our Cisco Catalyst Switches across our district at over 30+ different sites.
  • Mobility agent.
  • Routing and switching.
  • Boot time - Currently the 3850's take about 15-20 minutes to power on.
  • Hardware - We have quite a few fans going out on our 2960x.
  • The licensing structure has changed over the past year and it has become more expensive.
  • The support has declined over the past year while the fees have increased. I understand wanting the end-user to learn to troubleshoot however when you are paying for a support plan only to be sent a PDF document it's frustrating.
We have benefitted from the manageability.
We have piloted HPE Aruba Switches. We originally had HP Procurve switches that were limited on functionality, after piloting the Aruba switches we have concluded that we are happy with the Cisco switches.
Every day it seems we are adding new devices to our network and our switches have been able to handle the smallest devices to the most complex ones. These devices include Rainbird sensors, HVAC sensors, access points, computers, etc. They are able to handle the complex switching as well as supporting the various PoE requirements.
