Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches

So I work in the enterprise space. So we have enterprise customers like the banks or the airlines who use our products. So we make sure that when we receive the requirements from the customers, we write them down, configure the devices, test them, and then send them over to customers to use.
  • The operating system is pretty stable. We don't get inquiries about too many security vulnerabilities about it. We don't get too many issues from the customers, which is good. So yeah, the stability is the main thing that I like about the product.
  • I think the licensing. Cisco has recently introduced subscription licenses, DNA subscription licenses, and we are still trying to get our heads around how it works from end to end, starting from ordering all the way to implementation and usage of it. So that's the area where I feel that Cisco can improve.
  • It's definitely a positive. I'm not into the finance department. I don't know too much into finances because I'm a network engineer. But since we have been using this product for many years, and definitely the management sees a good return on investment, that's why we are continuing this product and even improving it further.
My organization does focus a lot on the automation part of it. So we have recently implemented some automation into our network using third-party tools as well as what Cisco has to offer. So we are slowly migrating our networks into SD-WAN space where the devices are managed to be managed.
I don't have an exact example, but we do manage these devices on behalf of our customers. So we are using these technologies in our network.
We do have other vendors. For example, Juniper, Fortinet, and there are quite a few others. And Cisco is pretty good because we know the workflow, we know how the operating system works. We are much more familiar with Cisco products and we know the support system behind it. So in terms of comparing with others, I think it stands out. It's one of our top products to go to.

I think I've seen it in traditional, I mean I work in the traditional routing and switching environment, so I think it fits really well from a switching perspective. It fits really well in that space. I don't know too much about the SD-WAN and the cloud space. Whether it fits well or not, I would still have to explore that, but that's for other teams to look at. But as far as know, I think it fits very well in the legacy or traditional switching environment.
