Not sure

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Center's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Center live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Center go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Center again?

No

Cisco Catalyst Center is particularly well suited for organizations implementing Software-Defined Access (SDA), as it simplifies segmentation, policy enforcement, and overall network automation. It’s also a great fit for wireless environments, offering intuitive dashboards and deep visibility into client health, RF performance, and application usage. These capabilities are especially helpful for IT teams managing large, distributed wireless deployments.
However, for smaller networks without SDA or automation requirements, the full feature set of Catalyst Center might be underutilized. In such cases, simpler or more cost-effective management tools may be more appropriate.

Using Cisco Catalyst Center

The users represent network engineering and IT operations functions within our organization. They are responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining our Software-Defined Access (SDA) infrastructure. This includes tasks such as fabric provisioning, segmentation policy management, device onboarding, assurance monitoring, and troubleshooting. Catalyst Center is central to automating and streamlining these activities.
2 - Supporting Cisco Catalyst Center requires skilled network engineers and IT professionals with a solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts, especially Software-Defined Access (SDA), routing, switching, and segmentation. Familiarity with network automation, telemetry, and assurance is essential. Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center architecture, policy-based networking, and troubleshooting tools is also highly valuable.
  • automation
  • wireless assurance
  • centralized policy
  • Integrating with Cisco ISE to enable dynamic segmentation in our SDA fabric for improved security and access control.
  • Proactively identifying and resolving network issues using AI-driven insights from Catalyst Center.
  • Integrating with third-party ITSM tools for streamlined operations.
  • Expanding policy-based access control to more areas of the network.
I gave it an 8 because Cisco Catalyst Center offers powerful capabilities for managing our SDA deployment, including automation, assurance, and policy control. It significantly simplifies day-to-day network operations. However, there's still room for improvement in terms of performance, stability, and user experience.
