They are used for both access layer switching in IDFs and layer 3 distro switching.
- Ease of use
- Easy to configure
- Easy to troubleshoot problems and configure access layer security
- The stacking design with master role can sometimes be troublesome
- iOS upgrade could be smoother but it is still fairly straightforward
They have been great for design standards making it easy to replace when one fails.
Management via the CLI (calling line identification) is extremely simple and monitoring and configure via SNMP is also smooth.
The management and configuration of the alternates were much more difficult and less intuitive.
