Cisco Catalyst Addtional Questions
- Layer 2 switching
- PoE
- High Availability and Redundancy
- Ease of Use
For us, it is the reliability, stability, ease of use and performance. It is critical that it is reliable because the nature of our business can't afford frequent downtime. We have been using the Catalyst switches for more than 10 years already and some of them have not even been rebooted for more than a year.
First and foremost, change default credentials, configure VLANs, enable spanning tree protocol to prevent network loops. It will also be good to implement port security. Another important thing is to implement logging, backup and recovery. You need to be able to update firmare and ensure that it has the latest security patches and features.
