Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

Cisco is very flexible in terms of the support and configuration of Cisco Catalyst Switches. They come in 24 port and 48 port configurations. Various depth sizes and PoE budgets too. Cisco Catalyst Switches can be stacked together to increase port density with the master switch elected to be its control and management plane for the whole stack.

Pros

  • Reliability
  • Support
  • PoE

Cons

  • Features
  • Environment
  • Noise
  • They are expensive, without any discounts.
  • Long shelf life equals less asset refreshes
  • Long software support

Do you think Cisco Catalyst Switches delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst Switches's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst Switches live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

No

Cisco Catalyst Switches are suited in enterprise environments such as offices and small data centres. I have seen them deployed at the edge network and core network. Different line cards are support on the larger chassis switches making it easier to have one switch does all approach, but requires another switch for redundancy.
