Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
we deploy Cisco Catalyst Switches across all our branches as access , distribution and core switches. They are used for all our switching and routing needs. All our endpoint wired devices are connected to Cisco Catalyst Switches 9400 chassis based switches . all our wireless accesspoints are connected to Cisco Catalyst Switches 9300 switches. We also use 3850's as out WAN internet switches in some of our sites.
Pros
- they do switching and routing
- VRF based routing is supported
- software upgrade is smooth although time consuming
Cons
- faster software upgrades
- better TAC support
- often run into bugs
- we are in manufacturing so when the Cisco Catalyst Switches goes down we hit revenue drop
- positive impact is even though they are expensive initially they have very good life since they will be used for a long time
- less maintanence required other than yearly license so if we can afford a large invenstment initially it is a good invenstment
