Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Data Center Network Manager

We use DCNM to manage our datacenter core switches (Nexus 5k & 2k) mainly for the SAN zoning on the fiberports.
This enables connectivity between our 45 servers and 4 EMC SANs.
  • Provides a graphical user interface for zoning your fiber connected servers and storage.
  • It has an easysy to follow workflow.
  • Enables us to configure and deploy configurations without downtime.
  • In rare cases you still need to use the command line interface to perform certain operations.
  • Had some conflicts while deploying DCNM which tried to use TCP ports which were in use by an other application.
  • Made it easier to manage our fiber Storage Area Network in our datacenter.
If you need to zone hosts and targets on a regular basis and have either MDS9000 or Nexus 5000 switches then Data Center Network Manager is a valuable tool. It also provides diagnostic capabilities.
