Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki Dashboard

I use the Cisco Meraki Dashboard to monitor switches, access points, firewalls, and sensors in my company. They allow me to monitor device health and troubleshoot all devices remotely. This is vital as the locations I monitor are hours apart and having this as a first line option saves me and my team needed time by just troubleshooting from our desks before it is needed to send someone out to check any devices physically.

Pros

  • The ability to monitor any port and get accurate information on its activity.
  • The ability to port cycle and reboot remotely. This is best for off-hour reboots.
  • Being able to search for devices through the client page with an IP address or MAC address saves time on device searches.
  • It is an easy process to add and remove devices to different organizations.

Cons

  • The ability to add a firewall to an organization without removing the current one would be good for prepping for network equipment replacements.
  • The ability to search the history of a given IP address within a month's time frame would be useful expediting tracking down offline devices or seeing what devices were attached to an IP specifically.
  • The dashboard saves literal hours of drive time with its options. Locations that are states apart save actual days worth of travel time just by allowing us to enact simple solutions without needing boots on the ground. This saves manpower and keeps personnel open for more severe situations.
  • The ability to perform most networking operations via the dashboard allows many employees to do their job remotely. This gives them the opportunity to perform non-severe work from their homes and makes it feasible to let employees leave work early to beat traffic without sacrificing company time or efficiency.
The dashboard is nicely organized and has a clean design. Relevant information is present in the related tabs and do as they are named. The main issues would be that it can be difficult to know what all the options are that are available in the dashboard. Having small tabs that give brief overviews as to the function of a given page would help when first using the dashboard in order to find where possible solutions are located.

Do you think Cisco Meraki Dashboard delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Meraki Dashboard's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Meraki Dashboard live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Meraki Dashboard go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Meraki Dashboard again?

Yes

Cisco Meraki Dashboard is well suited for use on a large scale network that utilizes a variety of different devices and keeping track of their connections to one another. This is especially the case if you have different independent locations that need to be monitored. Its ability to detect issues with individual ports in situations like an AP having an eroded cable being detectable via a cable test and a port cycle to disable PoE devices without needing someone to go in person gives accurate screenshots of the device's status while saving time. I would not say it is ideal for a mixed network with different device brands as seeing other brands and how they impact the network is more difficult with Cisco Meraki Dashboard.
