Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MS

We use it for interconnectivity on the layer two-level as far as connecting all data, and wireless voice connectivity between IDFs, MDFs, and WAN connections.

Pros

  • What it does really well is the connectivity to our dashboard, the Meraki dashboard. It gives us visibility for ports. We can see when we have issues, the ease of use as far as configuring, also keeping firmware updates. I could go on and on. It's very helpful.

Cons

  • Some room for improvement, which is funny because I noticed that it's coming out with this is the dashboard is limited in identifying overheating type issues, fan failures, some core issues that the units can come up with over heat exposure time, which I noticed in one of the sessions this week that it seems to be going to be adding that as a feature coming up. So I was glad to hear that.
  • I can't think of any negatives. Positive, well, I had nothing but positive things to say about it. Like I said, multiple times. Of course it does give us so much visibility, which is important to us. As far as on a daily basis, I mean the dashboard daily of course, and the use of the phone. It's just also they keep innovating and adding new features to it, which help us lower our troubleshooting times and uptime. And just the overall use of the product itself.
Well, we have a limited staff, so of course I'm going to mention that. One great thing about it is the ease of deployment, the claiming it on the dashboard, being able to scan QR codes to automatically add it with your phone in the app. It makes it a lot easier when you do have limited staff to be able to push out the product with ease.
We have integrated the Cisco Meraki Wireless, which is a big one, and I think that's about it. Basically we're Cisco Meraki Wireless and the Cisco Meraki switches stuff right now. That's it. We're looking into adding sensors into our data causes to give us more visibility about what's going on in there on the environmental level. The benefit is definitely the ease of use, the visibility that we get as far as troubleshooting. I'm sure there's many more, but those are probably the two main things.
I'm sure there's always room for improvement as far as making it more scalable, but as far as the way we've used it so far it's been right there.
Well, we've been using it for quite a number of years, so I guess I have evaluated, this is on the wireless side, the Ruckus platform, and it did not compare to the Cisco Meraki dashboard as far as the way it is utilized.

Do you think Cisco Meraki MS delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Meraki MS's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Meraki MS live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Meraki MS go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Meraki MS again?

Yes

Well, I guess what makes it well-suited? We're in education, so what makes it well suited, especially if you have a limited staff, just the visibility of the dashboard that you can see so much information in one pane of glass when you definitely have limited staff. Trying to eliminate those panes of glass is very important to us.
