Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Routers

The ISR 4330 handles our communications, site to site VPNs, WLC configurations and routing to our switchcore, keeping everything in order. This is amazing for our network infrastructure on premises, since we rarely have maintenances for it and most of them can be done easily.

  • The ROI on most Cisco products might seem slow, but they are worth it on the long term.
  • It has helped the NOC department to keep a steady workflow on the companies WAN links, along with the ASA and the Wireless elements.
It is essential to consider the compatibility of firmware and OS amongst all of the Cisco elements. Very often you will find yourself in situations of decrease if your WLC is too old for the router and away from the router itself. The compatibility between products might help if you are considering a full on wireless network only for your company.
Cisco Routers manage basic protection, if you want to go to the big game, get yourself a security appliance from Cisco itself. Still if your company is small, you can always consider just keeping the router and a small appliance from other companies like Dell, but consider the expense in the future.
We have not used other router brands, we started using Cisco from day one.
  • Well suited for the handling of several IDFs, call managing, routing, VPN, VLAN configurations, most of the things CISCO is known for. The level of reliability on a CISCO router is just amazing.
  • Not too great if you are looking for budget, or have really small or cramped rack space, always be mindful of configuration backups.
