Overall Satisfaction with Cisco UCS X-Series

I use Cisco UCS X-Series to host all of my VMs for my environment. The power to Rack Unit ratio is so great. It allows for me to pack a ton of compute into a small amount of space. It draws a lot of power, but it doesn't take up my entire Datacenter. Adding on Intersight for management across all of my Chassis is just icing on the cake.
  • Centralized Management
  • Automation
  • Scalability
  • Full featured Intersight
  • 1 slot, 4 socket blades.
  • OS deployment without a license
  • We have been able to rapidly grow and deploy additional compute, as well as replace when needed
  • The requirement for additional subscriptions/licenses for some of the automation should be baked in to the cost of hardware
Reducing the amount of times we have to rack/stack/cable, etc has dramatically improved efficiency and simplicity of scaling our environment. Being able to throw a new blade into a chassis, or putting in a newer generation blade for an upgrade has been huge. Add on centralized management across all environments, and you just made your life really simple.
We don't utilize the cloud offering, but have it hosted on prem. Being able to centrally manage the environment without having to hop around to different management consoles has optimized our processes. We don't have to duplicate data and templates across the board. We just define it once, and redeploy.

Do you think Cisco UCS X-Series delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco UCS X-Series's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco UCS X-Series live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco UCS X-Series go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco UCS X-Series again?

Yes

If you need a large quantity of compute and memory, as well as centralized management of all systems, Cisco UCS X-Series is definitely the way to go. If you have a smaller environment and don't need to rapidly scale, Cisco UCS X-Series is likely overkill for your application. The centralized management and automation is a killer feature, I just wish they didn't lock everything behind a paywall.
