Overall Satisfaction with Cohesity DataProtect
We use Cohesity DataProtect as our data backup solution. This covers VMware VMs, SQL DBs, Windows servers, and Cisco switch configurations. Our previous backup solution was complicated to maintain and use. Cohesity DataProtect was significantly less expensive than the previous solution, along with being vastly easier to use, and came as an appliance solution.
- Very simple an intuitive interface
- Leverages VMWare VADP APIs so it integrates extremely well for VMware backups
- Can be present and NAS storage for native SQL backups
- Lack of MFA when using Active Directory-based user accounts.
- Challenges with authentication with View from external AD domains.
- Hot fix patches need to be installed via cli
- Immutable storage
- Ability to use cloud based storage for offsite and longterm retention.

Cohesity DataProtect is vastly simpler to use. Its interface is much more intuitive. Being that Cohesity DataProtect can be an applicance-based solution, deploying it is much simpler. Also, Cohesity DataProtect can provide the hardware so there is a single vendor for both hardware and software issues.
