Overall Satisfaction with Control-M

We use Control-m to run and control various tasks such as: running batch jobs that run 24x7 and process data related to many departments in the organisation (and also to alert support teams when jobs fail), reports (daily or based on financial calendars), and even tasks such as spinning up AWS EC2 instances automatically.

Pros

  • Scheduling with pre-requisites.
  • Alerting on issues.
  • Providing an easy-to-use GUI for users.
  • Hands-off operation.

Cons

  • The admin utility is now web-based, but it can be a bit clunky.
  • Some aspects, such as API environment setup, can be a bit confusing.
  • Quicker response to failures.
  • Running things in a specific order.
