The problems of user management from a logistics standpoint is minimized by the plethora of administrative tools and features offered by the platform.
- The robust feature set and modules make it easy to fit to a sensible business process. Cornerstone OnDemand's interface is customized to fit any level of use and can be tailor-made to many different areas within an organization and the welcome page functionality gives users the easiest access to all of their training and tasks.
- Centralizing client data and ease of use when grabbing data and recognizing trends via the reporting functionality.
- The proxy enrollment functionality is exceptional to distribute training to the exact audience that needs it. The options and custom email capability gives admins total control over what is sent out to users.
- The organizational unit structure is a great backbone to allow administrators to give a personal touch to their user base while maintaining the corporate brand and values.
- Lack of documentation in some key areas. These areas are very technical/specific in nature, online help has a lot of documentation on how to use certain aspects of the system but certain compensation calculations, SCORM 2004 report logic and certifications are some areas where there is little documentation and support regarding intended functionality.
- Support team should be expanded to match the growth of the client-base.
- Performance competency models have to be associated to only one availability. This potentially limits the use of the competency models in performance reviews.
- Reporting on performance reviews could be more flexible. There are some standard reports that give a specific level of detail as to what state and step every user is in but little else. The custom reporting module seems to include nearly everything, save for the status of steps a user has already completed in a PR cycle. This leads to clients having to run two different reports then combining that data manually in Excel.
- Employee training completion efficiency increased by easy to use (and customizable) interface.
- Certification and compliance training tracking via reporting cuts down on administrative overhead.
- More targeted and successful succession planning to minimize impact from employee turnover.
- Canvas and Blackboard
Canvas and Blackboard are more of a student-based LMS, offering much less than Cornerstone OnDemand. If configured correctly, Cornerstone OnDemand can cover any gaps in efficiency compared to the out of box configurations of Blackboard or Canvas. Apart from that, Cornerstone OnDemand stands head and shoulders above any other LMS that I have experienced before. The staggering amount of configurable settings and the various modules put it in a class of its own.
