Overall Satisfaction with Cornerstone OnDemand

Our entire organization uses Cornerstone OnDemand. We use it to document training for our Quality Management System, Health & Safety, as well as product training for field personnel.

The problem that Cornerstone OnDemand addresses is that it allows us to manage a Learning Management System for a medium to large size organization that is growing.

Pros

  • Ability to configure system and add custom fields is easy. This is important because as the business grows it may require the system to be used in ways that it had not been previously.
  • Layout is visually appealing and intuitive for most users. This is important because it does not require a great deal of time to introduce a new user on how to use Cornerstone OnDemand.
  • Enrollments are simple with the use of departments or customized groups. This can save a lot of time for the administrator as they can essentially do batch enrollments for large groups of individuals.

Cons

  • I am not aware of a way to distribute reports and dashboards to managers via email automation.
  • I am not aware of a way for Cornerstone OnDemand to batch overdue emails to managers so as to reduce the amount of emails upper management receives.
  • Electronic signature button is not always activated after completing all learning objects. This requires individuals to exit and re-enter the training to use this feature.
  • Reduction in overdue trainings due to ease of use and email reminders.
  • Improved reporting functionality for managers.

Cornerstone OnDemand is best suited for an organization that already has existing learning / training content and requires a way to document individuals as having read or taken an assessment on the content. The email notification feature within the software can help send out periodic reminders.

This software may be less appropriate for an organization with an already established electronic document control system. Organizations with an already established electronic document control system would be advised to see [about] incorporating a training system into their document control system.

Using Cornerstone OnDemand

550 - Everybody in the organization uses Cornerstone OnDemand.
3 - In our organization we have two people that support Cornerstone OnDemand. One of the resources is in IT, one is in Instructional Programs, and the third is in Quality Assurance. In terms of skill to support Cornerstone, OnDemand you really just need a firm understanding of the fundamentals, which the company goes over in the beginning (includes security roles, curriculum building, email administration, etc.)

When I call the support line my call is answered within minutes and if I don't receive a solution I always receive an email follow-up within 24 hours.

Using Cornerstone OnDemand

Overall this is a very easy to use system. I help manage a lot of content within the system and I do not have an IT or computer system background. Since using Cornerstone OnDemand they have implemented a lot of improvements including better versioning control (when a new revision for a material is available) and how to people train on the new revision. Going forward I would also like to see improvements in terms of emailing reports and dashboards to managers.
