Overall Satisfaction with Cornerstone OnDemand

Cornerstone OnDemand is used by the company for training management, performance, and recruitment. However, I mainly deal with the learning aspect. We use it to implement and track compliance learning as well as personal development programmes and optional catalogue training that users can take on in their free time. We've recently started using the ILT functionality for events and sessions for both mandatory training and optional bitesize courses for users to book themselves into.
  • Learner Home looks great. The carousels help promote our optional learning and direct it toward relevant audiences.
  • Uploading SCORM packages is much faster and simpler since the recent update.
  • Curriculums are a great way to bundle induction training for new starters and making sure everyone gets all the correct training.
  • The learning assignment tool with dynamic assignment is great for making any new users complete their training as soon as they appear in the system.
  • Lack of Boolean search in the catalogue search is a real bugbear for me. It seems like a very basic search mode and it's missing.
  • The administration side of things is often unintuitive and confusing. It took me a good few months to adjust to the way things worked.
  • GPS support is extremely slow to respond. Priority 1 tickets can take weeks for an initial response, and they need constant chasing to get results.
  • Parts of the system feel very dated e.g. the ILT administration and end-user UI.
  • It sometimes feels like the only things that get updated are things that give Cornerstone the means to sell you more of their content, e.g. playlists, microlearning, and the create tool.
  • Compliance is much easier to track using reporting, which now takes much less time.
Mass rollouts of training for compliance are very easy using the learning assignment tool, and the dynamic feature allows new users to be added as soon as they're put in the system. Tracking completions is simple due to the dashboard functionality which allows line managers to track their direct reports with easy to read charts. HOWEVER, the dashboards do not update automatically when opened which can often lead to confusion from managers!
We have a demand for interactive workbooks as part of management training programmes, which involves users currently filling out paper workbooks. Cornerstone appears to have no workable solution to this in it's current form as it doesn't allow for that level of interactivity in programmes.
