Overall Satisfaction with Cove Data Protection
We use Cove to backup a majority of our workstations that we support in our MSP business.
Cove not only backs up workstation files and system state, but is also leveraged to backup 365 tenants, including email, calendars, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams data.
We additionally use Cove to backup servers and network folders.

Pros
- File-based backups
- Backup of a majority of all Microsoft 365 data
- Making restores of data easy
Cons
- Some of the settings that need to be configured per install need to be done manually
- Some reporting of failed backups doesn't fit our workflow
- Linux support is there, but minimal compared to other operating systems
- Cove provides an affordable backup solution for our clients
- Storage costs are done in a manageable and fair manner
- Overages are well communicated and are easy to spot / resolve
Cove Data Protection compares well against Veeam, as it provides a cloud-first option to save data, reducing worries of ransomware locking out the backup target. Additionally, whereas Veeam is an image-based backup, Cove provides file-based backup which can make restoration of less-than-full-images much easier. In a multi-tenant environment, Cove is much easier to use as well.
