Overall Satisfaction with Deltek Costpoint
Deltek Costpoint, as well as Time and Expenses, is used by 95% of our whole organization from accounting to operations. My team and I assist in troubleshooting, upgrading as well as administrating Costpoint. We are currently on CP 7.1 but migrating to the most current version. Costpoint is heavily utilized by our accounting department from invoicing, billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Costpoint has also been integrated into Cognos. My company hopes to deploy the asset and inventory management modules by end of 2018.
Pros
- Invoicing
- Billing
- Cost Accrual
Cons
- System Resource Hog
- Support Resolution Time
- Unified Patching and System Visibility
- Reporting & Analytics
- The additional resources provide my company and senior management with more depth to grow and add new projects.
- Streamlining our invoicing and billing process. Makes accounting happy when invoices are sent out on time and are paid.
- Shortening our closing and provides report potential for project management with more detailed analysis of reports.
There really isn't that much competition beside Financial Edge GCS. Costpoint is easier to use and has a slew of additional features or I should say modules (Time and Expense, Inventory and Asset Management, IBM Cognos) over the competitors. In the earlier iterations of Cognos it was a system resource hog as it needed multiple servers. However in the upgrades/updates this issue has been addressed and now it fits into one server as opposed to three. I must also add that it is a more stable environment but heavily integrated and relies on Microsoft Office as well as SharePoint.
