Overall Satisfaction with DigitalOcean Droplets
We use DigitalOcean Droplets to host various VPSes for our clients' public-facing websites. It saves us having to set up our own infrastructure and is used across our whole company. It provides the reliability we need to be able to concentrate on developing our products. We have also used DigitalOcean Droplets to host various apps such as 3CX phone system and Unifi cloud controllers to manage our clients' WiFi equipment.
Pros
- Simplicity to scale services--the interface is very quick and effective to use
- Reliability--this is key for us, as any downtime effects our reputation
- Keeps the costs down--hosting our own equivalent infrastructure would cost a lot more
Cons
- No facility to take snapshots of Droplets to another service for backup
- Allowed us to provide reliable and scalable web hosting to our clients with a good profit margin
- When support is slow, it can be difficult to get a service back up and running if required
