Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

We currently use SOLIDWORKS as our main CAD platform. Draftsight is a valuable addition as it works seamlessly in the 2D world complimenting the 3D capabilities of our base cad software. Draftsight is a fully functional 2D cad program. Price point is a great for a software program with this much usability. I highly recommend Draftsight.

  • Draftsight is a great place to start for employees wanting to learn CAD.
  • The ability to directly open dwg or dxf files sent in by customers reduces time required when converting to other formats.
  • Direct viewing of dwg and dxf files allows discussion with customers without this conversion.
SOLIDWORKS is far superior to Draftsight. SOLIDWORKS is a fully functional 3D CAD program which works seamlessly with most CAM software for machining complex parts.
Draftsight is well suited for modeling 2D parts for water jet, wire edm, etc. Fast and efficient in the 2D arena. A more robust cad program is required for 3D modeling.
