Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

It is used as a less expensive alternative to AutoCad and Solid Works.

Pros

  • Useful for 2D representations of building layouts and parts for fabrication.
  • It serves well as a "front-end" for 3D modeling software.
  • It handles .dwg files very well.

Cons

  • The formerly free versions were useful for hobbyist. However, the price is reasonable.
  • Tech support used to be only a phone call away. Not so much anymore.
  • Positively saved the company money.
DS is much easier to use.
Strength (by design) is a low cost 2D program that is excellent. Obviously, if 3D functionality is needed DS is not suitable.
