Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM)

Today we use it for our internal and external applications across the cloud and on prem. We use it to onramp into the cloud and SAP through our appliances in Equinix as well as our on prem applications in our own data centers both internally and externally.

Pros

  • It is great for front-ending certificates as well as optimizing traffic to the back end nodes.
  • It works really well at being able to manipulate traffic flows with iRules as well.

Cons

  • I would like to see a use case where it's easier to rotate certificates. Right now we are writing our own automation scripts to grab certificates from Entrust.
  • We use these for 600+ applications and we are able to manage all of them remotely and provide security across every application in one single platform.
  • We are able to provide an amazing customer experience load balancing across multiple nodes and this increases traffic on our websites and ultimately increases orders and traffic.
F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager is very easy to use. Building each application is straightforward forward and the help function and now with the new AI assistant soon to be available, it is going to be easier than ever to be able to understand and implement each application.

It is great for providing security and application delivery to multiple apps across your enterprise. With HA, you always have high availability in case something happens in one of the boxes.
