Overall Satisfaction with F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall)
We use F5 Distributed Cloud WAF as a critical layer of our security architecture to protect both public-facing and internal web applications. The business problems that product addressed are protection against web threats and compliance requirements. We currently protect over company’s web applications, including customer-facing portals, internal employee tools, and partner APIs.
Pros
- Comprehensive OWASP Top 10 protection
- Bot protection
- Load balancing
Cons
- Complex initial configuration and policy tuning which have not been setup. Default rules may lead to false positives.
- Dashboard usability gaps, some visualizations are limited.
- No native staging environment to validate a custom rule deployed.
- Stronger and more responsive protection against evolving threats
- Easier audit support and improved incident investigation
We’ve seen real benefits from F5 Distributed Cloud WAF in the areas we’ve deployed it, especially in terms of simplifying cloud app protection and improving response times. However, we’re still in the process of expanding its reach. Once fully adopted, we expect it to play a much bigger role in unifying our overall application security strategy.
F5 Distributed Cloud WAF allowed us to protect internal applications without public exposure, edge routing, or cloud dependency. We gained robust protection without exposing internal systems to the internet and F5 gave us the flexibility, security, and control we needed for a complex internal infrastructure, making it the right fit for our use case.
