Overall Satisfaction with GoAnywhere MFT

It is used by the organization to upload and download files from our trading partners. We have Vendors logon our sftp server also upload and download files. We even use internally to Linux, AIX and Windows servers. It turns lots of manual processes into automated. It is working very well with the features in the software.

  • Admin roll and security roll.
  • PGP key.
  • The product is difficult to learn initially, but once you get a grip on it, it is not that difficult.
  • Sometimes simple tasks require more logic.
  • It save lots of manual effort from end user and application to manipulate files. We have automated processes for the user. It saves almost 4 to 5 persons taking over 3 to 4 hours daily manually. Same task is done using GoAnywhere and takes about 1/2 hour.
I did POC software on many vendors for month. I found out that GoAnywhere was the perfect solutions for us. When POC in progress, some vendors refused to help me or guide without buying the software. When I called support for GoAnywhere they were able to help me without any issue. I explained that I am doing POC on your product and need help. They went above and beyond to help and setup.
Support has been great. But training can be expensive. I wish training for this product were more comprehensive. It is so much to learn in little time. There are so many features of the product, that it is impossible to learn in short time. The product works great. The upgrade process is much easier and quicker than other products.

We are getting a file from our trading partners. I connect to their Mainframe (IBM Z) and download file. Before I send the file to final destination to our Lawson server, I need to find and replace trailing spaces. Since Mainframe print character and Windows are different, I use GoAnywhere automated task to replace and it works really great. I saw over 5,000 entries completed in 4 secs.

Sometimes renaming a simple file name can be difficult.

1 - File transfer between trading partners and internally to different OS and host. We do lots of file transfer between Windows, LInux and AIX. We have over 100 Trading partners which we sends files every day. We run MFT. Some of the files are larges and some are very small. It is manage by one person only

I was looking to replace FTP Serv-U and FTP Voyager. FTP Serv-U was ok with our needs. FTP Voyager was very basic and looking for advance scripting and more automated. With FTP Voyager there were additional license has to purchase for ZIP/UNZIP and Encryption. Also FTP Voyager became free product without any support. It was big risk for liability and security. So, I was looking for replacement the product. I found Goanywhere. Goanywhere was complete solution for both FTP Server and FTP Client. I was thinking to buy only FTP Client. I thought it will be easier to buy both from same vendor in case of issue.If you have multiple vendors, then they point finger each other. This was there is no pointing finger and easy to get support. I evaluated six vendors for POC and Goanywhere MFT was winner

GoAnywhere MFT Implementation

Implementation was straight forward. We paid for 50 hours of professional service in case, we need help. We end using only 10 hours. I have only 1 month to convert over 120 scripts from FTP voyager to goanywhere. Old script was had written using bat files. Some of the batch file were written by some other person, who passed away. Documents for old script was not in details. With the professional service, I was able to convert all script within windows
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled

No - Product comes with standard support. Production issue off hours are included in support. Off hours support only for system down issue. We never had to use off hours support in almost six years. The product is very stable and does not have major issue. Even upgrade of the product is very simple if you follow documentation. Documents are straight forward and well written.
Yes - There were some bug after upgrade. Support escalated issue with developer and within week the issues were resolved. Beta release is available for every customer tor testing and report the bug. Very good approach from vendor. They allow customer for beta testing. They have well details release noted so you can test all features what you are looking for. If there is new features in beta and call for support, they always helps out.
Once i had issue with one of the script. It was keeps giving error. I try several times. i check the logs and cannot find any error. I called support and they were not able to see any issue with my scripting. They ask copy for my xml file. I sent the email. Within one hour I got replied and resolved my issue. The issue was the one character was mistyped. It is hard to see from GUI interface.

Relationship with HelpSystems

Sales was great. He also work with support for POC testing to make sure I can get help what I need. He did excellent job. We was very professional all the time. He went beyond his duties even, when I was doing POC testing At time we were not sure to buy this product.
He make sure, I was taking care of any given time
My manger did and everything worked out in one week. My manger sends the PO to buy this product. Once they received the PO they issue the permanent license of product

Upgrading GoAnywhere MFT

Yes - I did several upgrade. Only going from release 4 to 5 was kind of difficult. they have changed the interface. There were separate interface for FTP client and FTP Server. With Version 5.x it was one interface. We paid extra money for support in case of failure. We cannot afford long downtime due to healthcare
