Overall Satisfaction with Google Charts

We needed to build a dashboard for a local university, displaying complex data in a compelling and easy to understand way.
We were asked to display different aggregated data sets, with the possibility of customizing the display based on conditions, roles, and user preferences. We also needed to display different time-scale data, sometimes in the same dashboard.

Pros

  • Display multiple datasets in a single chart
  • Chart customization
  • Unified data schema
  • Simple and complete documentation with plenty of examples

Cons

  • More charts variety
  • Easier styling of data sets/points
  • The customer loved the initial version of the dashboard and renewed the offer for an additional part of the website
Google Charts use a standardized data format, making it easy to create different charts using equal or similar data inputs. On top of this, the documentation is thorough and very clear, has many examples to get inspiration from, and even have playgrounds to try the code before implementing it into your solution.

Do you think Google Charts delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Charts's feature set?

Yes

Did Google Charts live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Google Charts go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Google Charts again?

Yes

I found Google Charts to be a complete library, useful for both simple and complex cases. As I previously said, I had to implement a large dashboard where Google Charts has proven to be very performant and recommended for such cases, but I also used it to display a basic, standalone chart, and also for this much simpler case Google Charts was the best option.
