Overall Satisfaction with Google Cloud Speech-to-Text
As a pastor, I preach sermons on a regular basis. While I prepare a manuscript before preaching, I often incorporate elements in my public sermons that are extemporaneous. In order to document these verbal emendations, I had hoped to use Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to efficiently transcribe my recorded sermons after preaching.
Pros
- Supposedly helpfully transcribes audio files
- Presents a professional front in its interface
- Stores digital transcriptions in the cloud
Cons
- Interface is very confusing
- Instructions are not clear in how to upload files
- Full scope of the purposes of this program are not succinctly stated
- Supposedly will help me transcribe my sermons.
- Ideally would help me prepare for future presentations.
- Hopefully will effectively keep a record of my sermon emendations.
Unfortunately, my brief engagement with this program proved to be unsuccessful in transcribing an audio file. I genuinely wish I could say that this was an easy-to-use program, but it was not. The instructions were unclear and therefore practically impossible to follow. I'm sure for someone more tech-savvy, this would be a helpful tool, but alas, not for me.
