Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets
We use it for quick prototyping of datasets, which can include regex, the =AI function, and appscripts. It's a very versatile tool that allows us to do a lot of prep work and data cleaning ahead of more intensive methods. With Google Sheets, we can get 90% of the way there before we need to bring in additional support.
Pros
- Equations are very helpful for manipulating data
- The appscript allows for a lot of additional integrations
- It's able to handle a lot of data before it gets bogged down. As long as a sheet is
Cons
- the =AI function maxes out at 200 cells at a time and can really slow down the function of a sheet
- manipulating larger spreadsheets of over 10k rows of data tends to slow down performance a lot
- The error messages in formulas should be integrated with AI to provide more specific advice
- Faster data manipulation
- Shorter time to minimum viable product
- Faster product launches
Google Sheets collaborative mode and integration with google drive makes it much easier to share data across teams or organizations, while also allowing for multiple users on the product. The functionality of equations, appscripts, and AI integrations make it invaluable compared to the other tools on the market. With Google Sheets we've really been able to accelerate our development
