Overall Satisfaction with Graylog

We are an ecommerce agency and, with multiple clients and multiple environments per client, having a centralized platform to collect log makes our life a lot easier. Instead of waiting for a developer or devops worker to check for issues, project managers can check the log themselves and then forward tasks quickly.

Pros

  • Log collection
  • Storage management
  • Log statistics

Cons

  • Configuration can be hard to understand
  • More quickly and easy ways to search for data
  • Auto-categorization of log entries would be excellent
  • Saves time of devops personal
  • Allow quickier response time on issues
  • More precise task attribution by project managers
Graylog is more on the technical side of user interface, with a steep learning curve that can be challenging for non-tech people. Once its logic is understood, however, its great to use and people have no issues to find the information they need. It's configuration is also not that easy, however this we consider impossible to avoid in spite of the type of service it does.
Blackfire and Sentry both offer more resources, not only monitoring logs but also performance and real time erros - on those areas they are more complete and generalistic tools. Graylog, however, is better on log saving, search and analysis alone, because of its flexible and powerful storage and filter system.

Do you think Graylog delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Graylog's feature set?

Yes

Did Graylog live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Graylog go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Graylog again?

Yes

It's an excellent tool for companies with multiple services/environments to monitor, allowing for quick access to logs in a centralized way. However, searching for data can be complicated for new users, and it lacks features to proactivelly alert of new issues and to categorized issues in a way that is easier to monitor.
