Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions

We use IBM Cloud solutions for our data platform for one of our revenue-generating applications. It is our infrastructure for our data platform so it no longer involves manual management. This has been great to give me more time in my day and be confident that our data is secure.

Pros

  • Flexible pricing depending on size and scale
  • Supports leveraging our IBM Enterprise Licensing Agreements
  • Good support from solutions architects and support teams

Cons

  • Better integrations with products like Terraform from Hashicorp
  • Provide more SaaS based solutions and platforms
  • Positive: Less time managing and supporting the infrastructure that supports our data platform
  • We were able to complete a project faster than it would've taken to build out a data center and purchase hardware.
Being able to leverage existing VMWare ESX administrators to support and maintain the environment has helped to create a seamless platform for our operations. This makes it easy to get our data across multiple teams and restore when needed.
The training within the initial conversations and onboarding helped prepare our team to fully leverage the product in our day-to-day. Because of this, we haven't had to have lots of follow up calls for support or to fix an issue - our team is able to figure everything out and work quickly.
IBM Cloud for VMware solutions has been great and we haven't seen a need to look into competitors.
Chef
We use it for bare metal and to support IBM specific products. Where it doesn't make sense are for workloads that are already container-based and customers are looking for a full platform.
