Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage

We use Cloud Object Storage to store documents that are uploaded to our web application. We also use it for archiving internal files large and small, such as backups and media files. We primarily use it because there are no limitations on the amount of data we can store and because it has auto expiration features that will delete older files based on a date.
  • Stores both short term and long term files.
  • Auto scales based on our usage.
  • Auto deletes older files.
  • Searching for files by keyword could be better. Currently one can only filter by prefix.
  • More affordable storage than tape or hard drives.
  • More reliable storage than tape or hard drives.
We have not needed this feature.
This has helped us because IBM Cloud Object Services automatically gauges which tier to assign based on your usage. In the beginning, we had to select the tier and that was problematic because we could not predict what our usage would look like. The auto pricing based on usage makes it easier to configure and get up and running because it takes out some of the guesswork.

  • IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
  • IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers
We use several IBM products to complete our infrastructure. IBM Cloud Object Service is just one of the many components we are using. It's nice to have the various tools we need for each aspect of our infrastructure and have it all on our private subnet. For example, if we need storage we just create a new Cloud Object Services bucket and spin up a new virtual server to upload and download files to the bucket.
IBM Cloud Object Storage is well suited for storing files that aren't accessed often. Its archiving features and pricing structure makes it an affordable solution for backing up files that we may or may not need later. And it's auto expiration feature enables you to automatically erase older data so it doesn't count against your monthly billing.
