Overall Satisfaction with IBM FlashSystem

Our IBM Storwize V7000 is being used across our organization. We use it to support our virtual environment VMWare and it has been an outstanding and reliable asset. The GUI is extremely easy to use. We have had very low disk failure rates throughout the years, and the system handles any issues like a champ. It is very scalable and can be upgraded easily with new drives or an expansion system which we have also purchased.
  • Reliability and low failure rates.
  • Easy to learn GUI, web browser based.
  • Easy Tier organization.
  • Can handle disk or power failure smoothly without causing damage.
  • Data compression could be improved.
  • Block storage only
  • Expensive (but worth it)
  • We have purchased V7000s at the end of lease from IBM, they were that good.
  • Cost of purchase/maintenance can be very high, but IBM support is outstanding.
This is a more affordable option compared to some of the higher-level storage, and it takes much less of a footprint than say an Infinibox system. This is giving your company power savings and physical space options as well. The V7000 is easily installed by on-site infrastructure teams whereas some of the more complex systems require site visits for any installations or new systems.
This is well suited for a large scale virtual environment. We have also used the V7000 for high I/O functions such as video storage/playback for our security system and it has performed fantastically.
