Power Systems Virtual Server on IBM Cloud for AIX/Linux

Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power System Virtual Server

For the past five years, we've been using IBM Power System Virtual Server to move some of the load of our mid-range business support systems from physical to virtual. For the time being, it's being used throughout our company's business department to help with client administration, billing, and accounting. The key business concerns that this solved were (1) replacing our old infrastructure and (2) giving our systems a much-needed performance and availability boost. We can now do maintenance windows considerably less frequently, and our uptime has increased dramatically. As a result, we've become more efficient in completing our daily tasks. Batch processes, for example, are no longer required.
  • It creates a far more productive working environment.
  • Provides a superb platform for servers that were formerly physical.
  • Complex systems may take a long time to transition from physical to virtual.
  • The cost of converting existing systems might increase depending on how complicated the conversion is.

  • Giving users the opportunity to complete tasks more quickly can have a beneficial influence on ROI.
  • We now have more efficient, less error-prone systems, which improves ROI.
  • To do the same amount of work as before the upgrade, we need less time from employees.
Customization and tuning settings are accessible to deliver greater value in relation to various databases such as Oracle, DB2, and others. The same can be said for the program that lets us run our firm with little downtime. In addition, as we all know, hardware is extremely reliable, and in the event of a problem, IBM provides fast assistance. That is why we chose IBM Power System Virtual Servers.
Vulnerabilities can be mitigated via timely OS and VIO upgrades, as well as firmware upgrades. When commissioning a server, we always upgrade the OS, VIO, and Firmware levels, as well as the adapter microcode. Vulnerabilities can be reduced by employing these methods.
IBM's HMC, Power VC, or another platform can be used to administer it. If we had ESA in such a state, in the event of a service event, an auto-trigger would occur, and an OEM ticket would be raised immediately, allowing them to take action. Another way to encounter the issue is to use the ERRPT command, which is one of the most well-known. We are capable of resolving these problems and achieving corporate objectives.
IBM Power System Virtual Server
IBM Power System Virtual Server is well-suited to mid-range systems that execute a lot of batch processing and have physical limits such as memory, hard drive capacity, and networking performance. In comparison to a physical server environment, these issues can be rectified considerably more readily in the IBM Power System Virtual Server environment.
