Overall Satisfaction with IBM Security Guardium

We are currently using Guardium for Vulnerability/Entitlement Scans as well as DB Activity Monitoring. We have found that all 3 of these services are providing really good value. We are in the process of adding or unlocking more features, such as Service Now integration, FAM as well as others.

Pros

  • Vulnerability Scans.
  • Auditing.
  • Compliance.

Cons

  • Cleanup the menu bar- way too many items.
  • Ktap support for newer O/S. Recently, I have had to open support tickets to get the most recent support for the RHEL Kernel.
  • Also, upgrading agents to V12 doesnt not have the same Flex or exact match for KTAP as 11.5. You would think V12 would have the same Kernel support as 11.5. Clients are moving to V12.
  • Decreased security risks.
  • Harden system.
  • Audit automation.
I would have to say it is challenging for a new person to use the product. There are many menus, and the search reveals multiple hits on things, even though they lead you to the same spot. You need to know what you are searching for. So, if you don't match what you think the topic is. You won't get hits. The search works well if you know what you're looking for. For example, you won't get any hits if you search for LDAP. Now, someone might not know where to find a setting like that.
It has had a positive impact; in fact, we plan to onboard 100 more clients.
Guardium, I believe, does a lot more than other products I have used.

It checks many boxes when it comes to security. It allows you to see all the DB activity that goes on, report on it, and send it to SIEM. The analytics part extends this product even more. The investigation dashboard makes it easier to find outliers or specifics without running queries or reports.
