Overall Satisfaction with IBM Storage FlashSystem
The IBM Storage FlashSystems (FS5300) we have in our organisation are primarily used for migrations. we currently have a few running with PBR migrating data from Germany to the Netherlands to a non customer location as a last resort copy.
Pros
- Easy to use
- low latency, high performance
- low Power consumption
- lost of possibilities to connect host (FC, etc 10/25Gbe, etc....
Cons
- deduplication (mainly for the check in the box)
- make the capacity overview easer to understand
- direct attach iscsi capabilities
- ability to add host port in PBHA environment
- the IBM Storage FlashSystem and SVC helps us a lot with migrations, what saves a lot of time.
- it also help us with LCM, this also saves us a lot of time.
- the new PBHA feature , helps us with creating an active-active environment, what gives us an 100% uptime capability.
FCM4 with anomaly detection in combination with storage Insights.it helps us to have a unique selling point toward customers.Compression on the FCM's, this capability makes compression possible without having performance penalties on de controller, which is unique for IBM Storage FlashSystem.
the New PBHA functionality in combination with partitions makes in possible to migrate workloads between different FlashSystem's without host impact. This makes it possible to have the best performance on every single system in your Flashgrid
IBM Storage FlashSystem outperformed all the other storage systems we tested.
