Overall Satisfaction with IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON

It is mainly used by system administrators, directly from the console or through automatisms. It addresses response time monitoring or consumption of address spaces and possible system blocks. It is also used by the technological help desk functions to solve user problems. Moreover, a lot of reports are produced in batch mode.

Naturally, during the software selection, other tools from other similar vendors were compared as functionalities. more benchmarks have been made to control the Omegamon overhead on applications. certainly, it has influenced the fact that the mainframe base software is IBM and Omegamon is IBM so the compatibility problems are automatically solved.
Certainly, the tool is useful for debugging applications and for real-time monitoring. It's a bit less useful, not to say useless when applications are client servers. We have used it heavily above all to optimize the DB/2 applications. We managed to reduce the need for additional MIPS year by year.
