Informatica Cloud is a must for any organization that uses Salesforce
Overall Satisfaction with Informatica Cloud
It is being used by our Integration team. Basically, it is used to solve business problems where integration needs to be done between a legacy system and Salesforce.
Pros
- First and foremost is its capability of integration
- Secondly, the transformation is just so simple
- It has everything which you need to start from scratch and deploy in the cloud.
Cons
- Incremental jobs can run very slowly on large table updates. Incremental jobs do not work at all for Salesforce.com history tables.
- No real ability to report on what jobs you have set up or the performance of those jobs (failures, number of records copied, etc.).
- It is only available within the user interface and you basically have to copy paste it from the browser if you want the information.
- A positive impact is bringing more projects.
- Getting data out of various systems such as Salesforce.com or FTP and consolidating it into tables in one central database.
- Having the ability to run data transformation tasks (the equivalent of batch jobs in SF or stored procedures in SQL) on a schedule without consuming those resources on the target or source systems.
First, the wizard is easy to use making the learning curve for simple ETL tasks nice. Second, since Informatica is mature there are a good variety of connectors available. Finally, we have driven some fairly complex ETL solutions using only the cloud.
