Jamf Pro is significantly helping St. Cloud State University improve our security compliance as well as improve the our users' experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros

FileVault Encryption ease of use and compliance reporting.
Self Service makes software installation VERY easy for our users.
"System health" reporting helps IT maintain and patch users' systems, often before they reach out to our help desk.

Cons

We need better system name management, especially with enrollment profiles.
Better patch management for sys-admins so that updating software versions does not require constant uploading of software packages.
Health or status reports for users (oriented towards their needs).

Return on Investment

We've been able to verify the encryption status of all of our Macs, that's huge given the concerns around data privacy. Before we became a Jamf shop, we had slow and (sometimes) unreliable reporting.
iOS devices are scoped for applications or event configurations within minutes of a departmental request (which is powerful because they often forget to request changes in a "timely manner.")

Likelihood to Recommend

Jamf Pro does struggle with patch management. While it is capable, Munki performs better.
