Overall Satisfaction with Kira Systems

The Practice Innovations department handles setup and manages all ongoing Kira projects. We currently use Kira to speed up high-volume contract reviews for clients and to organize our outside counsel policies.
  • UI/UX - tagging and naming feels much easier than you'd expect machine learning to feel
  • Accuracy - Kira's built-in models perform well out of the box
  • Assistance - Kira's support team gets back to me same day if I have a question
  • Missing functionality - rules; regex; that's the next step in our workflow we'd like to automate
  • Quick Study - I'd prefer a quick study window that I could personalize more. Alphabetical foldering means I usually have to search for my clauses because it's too hard to find them when scrolling. There are too many clauses in Quick Study that we've never used and can't edit. Why not have a separate built-in clause bank?
  • Renaming documents - people upload them with crazy names. I'd rather be able to change the name than have to determine whether it's worth the cost to re-upload the same document with a helpful name.
  • This is difficult to assess for a law firm as we do different tasks with Kira that we could not do before, but I'm unsure if the cost per year is returned.
  • We don't do large due diligence projects.
  • We use Kira for single document review via the API.
  • Exports - so the end users of my report never have to login to Kira
  • API - we wouldn't be customers without it
  • Quick Study - again, we wouldn't be customers without it; we custom train in nearly every project
I miss Sondra! There was a gap in coverage when she left, but we seem to be back on Kira's radar with the QA Early Access program.
Simple to use once trained. I have yet to have another user "get" Kira in a way that allowed them to tag/train. Most of our users prefer than I handle the Kira portion for them. Usability could be improved, but it may be better to have only well-trained users regularly logging in.
  • Our own custom software - a Microsoft Word checklist add-in for document review
  • Another custom redlining Word Add-in
Easier - our developers handle all the API calls.
We initially chose Kira because of the Quick Study feature and because we trust Noah. We've since evaluated Diligen--its features have grown substantially over the past year. We've also tried ContraxSuite, LawGeex, Evisort, Luminance, eBrevia, Heretik, Blackboiler, and many others. It all comes down to the cost + feature set. We will always go with the lowest cost provider with the widest needed feature set (assuming there are no accuracy or performance issues during the pilot).

Do you think Kira Systems delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Kira Systems's feature set?

Yes

Did Kira Systems live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Kira Systems go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Kira Systems again?

Yes

Kira is great for extracting text from a document. It doesn't have legal judgment. It doesn't understand whether a clause should be in a contract, but it can tell you if it's there or not.
