Fresh Paint on a Solid Performer
Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)
I have used the Nuance PDF product for over ten years, and find that the Kofax version has kept all of the features that I need in a PDF program. We primarily use Kofax PDF to make fillable forms from standard PDFs, as well as editing and marking up files.
Pros
- Rather than printing forms and filling them out, I make them 'fillable' and type in the information. This saves time avoids errors due to poor handwriting.
- Helps our office be more 'paperless'.
- Allows for easier file sharing with clients and companies we do business with.
Cons
- The program loads slowly - quicker loading time would be helpful.
- Occasional crashes/freeze ups. More stability would be helpful.
- Time saving.
- Efficiency.
- Organization improvements.
I have found the interface to be very intuitive. The menu ribbon is easy to navigate, and the features, though powerful, are easy to master with just a bit of experimentation. I have found the best way to learn is to dive right in and see what it can do!
I was a Nuance user for many years and when it came time to upgrade I wanted to stay with something that I knew met our needs. I looked into more expensive programs such as Adobe, but found what I already knew - Kofax PDF does what the others do for a significant savings.

Form filling and the ability to add my own images are the most powerful features. I have also used the program to design my own PDF forms. Recently a non-profit I volunteer with needed a scholarship application to email to candidates. Using the Kofax PDF software I was able to create exactly what we needed, including the organizations logo, in a matter of a few minutes.
