Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

The entire business uses Kofax/Nuance (depending on how long they have been with the company), it was chosen for the fixed price structure over Adobe's version of a yearly subscription. The program is used for our PDF viewing, editing, converting, and creating editable forms. Previously have come from Adobe products and can say that it provides the same service.
  • The comment section is quite easy, and user friendly.
  • Side panel for overview of pages and quick settings is a time saver.
  • Creation of editable forms can be done automatically, it has picked up the required sections perfectly every time.
  • When getting out of a setting (editing/form building) it takes some effort and not very easy to do.
  • Signature tool is very awkward and requires a lot of effort to place a signature, it would be better to split the button from place and manage. Creating a button for each, with the place button having a drop down box with a choice of signatures/initials rather then selecting each time from the pop out box.
  • When commenting on a document, it would be good to be able to right click the item and be able to bring forward or send back over other comments/shapes/pasting items.
  • Cost saving.
  • Outright purchase.
  • Easy to have new staff use without requiring training.
80% of Kofax is easy to use, with no training you can pick up the program and not have an issue understanding the different components it can perform. with some refining, it could be better than Adobe. But the main reason/choice to use Kofax is the value for money.
The main reason Kofax is chosen over Adobe is not paying for a subscription or high prices. Kofax is very well priced and makes it affordable to any business big or small. Kofax has the same if not similar functions of Adobe, these functions could receive some tweaking for ease of use, but the functions are there which is what's important.
I personally have never used the support from Kofax. In saying that, it does mean I haven't had issues with the program that requires support (so that would be a positive).

The easy-to-replace/remove/insert pages via the page overview is the top feature our company uses. We will export a word document to PDF and require to add additional pages, this feature is very straightforward and very easy to perform. The edit function is also quite helpful to amend the document without having to revert back to the word document and re-PDFing after amendment has been made.
As a well-rounded PDF editor/viewer application it is value for money. It provides all the basics needed to perform everyday tasks for a business and shares many of the options available via Adobe without the price tag. It could do with some more refining of the features available (making user friendly, easier to find, or function smoother). But would still consider Kofax over Adobe due to the value for money it provides.
