Power PDF Standard for Mac

Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

I use it personally as a follow on product to Nuance. The transition from Nuance to Koufax was smooth and the program was very cost effective. For me, the ability to not only read a PDF but create and edit PDF files on the fly is the most important feature.
  • OCR conversion of existing documents.
  • Editing and markup.
  • Consolidation of several documents into one.
  • Separation of a single document into several.
  • The online documentation is not the most intuitive.
  • It can be easy to get lost in some of the menus.
  • The simple interface is time saving.
  • The cost was well below comparable products.
It is definitely different than it’s predecessor particularly since I also changed to the Mac version. But once I spent some time with the product learning to do what I needed it to do, I quickly became more comfortable with the new interface and features of the program. It’s not a steep learning curve.
I haven’t really had to use the online support at all as I am usually able to figure things out myself.

For editing, I typically need to add text, mark up documents, and convert existing documents using OCR. I Find the keyboard shortcuts particularly easy to use when marking up existing documents and embedded images.
I think the product is well suited to every instance I have had to edit or otherwise manipulate a PDF document. I have not discovered any scenarios where it didn’t do what I needed it to do. Sometimes, it takes a while to figure out how to do something, but it’s intuitive after that.
