Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Kofax Power PDF is currently being used across the entire company. We did not want to pay for the yearly licensing costs of Adobe Acrobat and as a result have discovered Kofax to be a reliable alternative. Presently the Advanced version is being used by lawyers who need to redact parts of documents. The standard version is being used by everyone else.

  • Email archiving to PDF.
  • Web integrations.
  • Corporate sales support.
  • Paralegal time saving.
  • More billable hours.
  • Streamlined WordPerfect conversion processes.
Kofax Power PDF is indeed easy use and every person at the company that uses it really likes it. Even the non technical people really seem to enjoy the flexibility and freedom of not needing to print a document, hand write changes and then scan the document back in for review.
We evaluated Adobe Acrobat Reader DC but could not justify the steep price point for the few features we would be using. Kofax filled that void for us except for being able to integrate with our web browsers. Adobe is still king in this portion unfortunately so we have had to keep it around.
When trying to purchase an enterprise license, Kofax had just acquired Nuance and for the next 4 months would not answer any emails or phone calls pertaining to our license, then on the fifth month we received our license code along with an invoice. When we said we didn’t want to proceed with the enterprise license, Kofax would follow up weekly for the next 3 months looking for payment. It took getting lawyers involved in order to make the emails stop.

On a daily basis we use the redaction, Word conversion, email archiving and PDF combine features the most.
Kofax Power PDF is a great alternative to Adobe Acrobat. Especially for those who do not wish to pay $700 per year for the latest piece of software. However, Kofax presently lacks the web browser integration features for printing and saving from within our environment.
